Why not create a board that meets to decide if it should be advisory or decision-making, who should serve, what their roles should be, who should have the most authority, what the mission should be, who should create the strategic plan, whether the board should be dissolved or reformed, etc. According to departing director Dorothea Megow-Dowling, the Jackson County Economic Development Commission has been doing just that. And that is better than administering grants of corporate welfare like most other EDC’s.
