But the implication flies in the face of the results. It was a vote in favor of the status quo with a 70-30 ceiling — the CMS, land, and CPCC bonds result all tell us that. Those were straight yes-no votes. McCrory’s 61 percent did not top that, nor did the 57 percent of the vote that incumbent at-large city councilmen got, or the 54 percent incumbent CMS board members received.

Vinroot couldn’t really have been expecting 80-20 given those numbers. Besides, like I said the other day, the fact that the question was the very last thing voters saw and double-checked made me seriously doubt much of anyone would be confused. Besides, like I said before that, there is no reason to suspect the error would cut more one way than the other.
