Write it down. Charles Chandler deflates rampant speculation that DC Mike Trgovac will be the next Panthers assistant to move on by quoting unnamed sources saying that Trgo is expected to sign a contract extension soon.
I have to assume that unnamed source is GM Marty Hurney; Chandler wouldn’t be writing a story otherwise. Surely he is not basing it on Trgo’s agent pushing back against all the rumors in the air that a new DC is just a matter of time.
The larger point is that no matter who is in that slot next year, Carolina will face an uphill struggle to reach .500 given the first-place sked the Panthers will play. But with Trgo back in charge of a passive defense, the ceiling is more like 6-10.
