The state legislature has decided to allow live dealers to operate in Cherokee casinos. A Martian viewing from outer space, unfamiliar with how far cause and effect have strayed from natural laws in North Carolina, would likely be confused with the governor’s response:

“It’s a deal that I think puts money in the classroom of North Carolina for our kids,” [Beverly] Perdue said after the ceremony. “It helps us get 400 new jobs in the west. And the derivatives from the economic development activities from the tribe will be remarkable to us. I’m happy with the deal.”

But then, my response was even less Vulcan. The mere mention of the Cherokee casino sent my mind adrift in a sweet reverie of meeting my favorite rock star for a few seconds after his show there. (Note the delay in time stamps.)
