I missed this Zogby poll when it came out in June, but it’s still worth a look.

Respondents were asked whether they supported the construction of a variety of new power plants in the U.S. Here are the levels of support for each option:

? Natural-gas plants-71 percent
? Nuclear plants-67 percent
? Coal plants-51 percent
? Oil plants-38 percent

Respondents were then asked, given a hypothetical situation in which they knew a power plant would be sited in their neighborhood, which type of plant they would prefer. Here are the preferences:

? Nuclear-43 percent
? Natural gas-26 percent
? Coal-8 percent
? Oil-1 percent

See, Americans have gone completely loony. Unfortunately, young people were the least supportive of the nuclear option, no doubt the product of years of environmental ?education.?
