So today at the General Assembly, The Joint Select Com. On Inherently Dangerous Animals held one of the most unusual discussions as to what kinds of exotic animals, if any, should be allowed to be owned by the public. No one seemed to want to throw out the idea that private homeowners, who have immediate neighbors, should not be allowed under any circumstances to own Tigers or other Big Cats. Those who have the necessary arrangements, enclosures, intelligence, and need (respect to those who make a living off of private animal reserves), should be able to continue with their current lifestyle but with increased inspections by the state to make sure that animals are being properly cared for and no one is at any kind of unnecessary or immediate risk.
