Daniel Mitchell writes about super-rich leftists who feel guilty that they don’t have to pay higher taxes in this Cato@Liberty post.

If you have a vast, inherited income and feel guilty, why not just find good charities and donate lots of money? Why would you want the federal government, so notorious for squandering wealth on boondoggles foreign and domestic, to have still more to waste? And even if you, absurdly, think the feds are doing a good job, why not let other Americans who have a lot of wealth, choose to use their money for investment or charity if they think that more useful?

The answer, I think, lies in Jonah Goldberg’s useful phrase “liberal fascism.” Most modern day “liberals” are authoritarians at heart.
