“I’ll Have to Hire an Accountant to Figure That Out!”

If you’d like to know the real-world impact of the proposed “modernization” of the tax code, which would extend sales taxes to hair stylists, landscapers and other folks, just tell your stylist or landscaper what is about to happen to his/her business. The stylist I told about the tax hike stared at me with an “are you kidding me” look and said:

“I’ll have to hire an accountant to figure that out! Or, I’ll have to go to work for someone else.”

Yep. What a shame that this real-world impact gets no traction with legislators who simply want more taxpayer money to spend.
