Today’s N&R article on the $671 million in bonds and the sales tax on the May 6 ballot features this quote of the day:

“I’m not concerned that our taxes go up a few hundred dollars a year,” said Bhushan Thakkar, who moved to the Forest Oaks neighborhood from New Jersey three years ago. He said that good schools raise the property value of his house. “People want to live in areas with nice amenities.”

Evidently the editorialists at the N&R aren’t concerned, either, considering the fact that they endorsed four of the five bonds on the ballot plus the sales tax. And am I naive, or should I be surprised at the level of support for the sales tax among Guilford County commissioners, including conservatives Billy Yow and Steve Arnold?
