Immigrants are looking more like the rest of American society ? in terms of economics, civic participation, and culture ? much more quickly today than a century ago.

That’s the good news in the new Index of Immigrant Assmilation, compiled by Duke University professor Jacob Vigdor. The bad news? Mexican immigrants are assimilating much more slowly than immigrants from other countries.

Vigdor explained his study today for the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society.
