For some years now, Oregon has been the home to the worst excesses of land regulation in the US. In reaction to the authoritarian proclivities of their politicians, the citizens have twice enacted measures to protect property rights, only to have them struck down by judges who don’t like property rights (except for their own) and managed to find technical reasons why the initiatives were invalid. Seems to me that the Oregon judiciary is acting like the French aristocracy in 1789.
