The polls will close in about half an hour, and then I’ll blog for about four hours keeping the region up-to-date on the returns. In the meantime, I managed to get my computer in the same place as a newspaper article I wanted to share. The April issue of Civitas’ Capitol Connection headlined the “Ten Worst Federal Stimulus Projects in North Carolina.” They were:
- A Wake Forest University study of monkeys using cocaine: $71,623
- Payrolling four dancers for the North Carolina Dance Theatre: $50,000
- A Wake Forest University study on the correlation between hot flashes and yoga: $147,694
- Marketing the stimulus act: $492,940
- A UNCA project to digitally record dance moves: $762,372
- Payrolling a designer and archivist for the American Dance Festival, Inc.: $50,000
- Construction of a new town hall in Bladenboro; $300,000
- Payrolling the executive director of the North Carolina Folk Life Institute: $25,000
- Preservation of an NCSU insect collection: $253,123
- Payrolling two management positions for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra $50,000.
