The City of Asheville hosted an open-house to collect public input on downtown development, with special emphasis on hotels. The proliferation of construction has led the city to review its regulations. Attendees interviewed by the Mountain Xpress were not optimistic. Two folks interviewed indicated there was a low signal-to-noise ratio. Said one of them, Inge Durre:
The city is having too many public input meetings right now. We see the same people at every meeting. Then, when you get there, it’s very disorganized. If the city wants to form a coalition of residents to provide input, it needs to be more clear how citizens can participate in a productive way.
