I have to say I’m amazed at media reaction to President Trump’s tweet following the most recent London terror attack:

Locally speaking, we have N&R’s Doug Clark:

Our national embarrassment takes no day off.

It may be Pentecost Sunday, but the president of the United States began the day with an ill spirit, tweeting an insult based on a lie at the mayor of London the day after that city endured a terrorist attack:

“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!'”

That is not what Sadiq Khan, London’s mayor, said at all.

He said that Londoners should not be alarmed by the additional police presence after the attack.

The statement could not be easily misconstrued by anyone of average intelligence. Yet Trump managed somehow.

Seems to me it’s other people of so-called average intelligence–like Doug Clark–who are so focused on hating Trump that they’re misconstruing the entire situation here. Two horrific terrorist attacks in two weeks necessitating increased police presence—oh but Londoners should not be alarmed. Give me a break.
