Three associates of Gov. Bev Perdue have been indicted on felony charges related to flight irregularities during the governor’s 2008 campaign, Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby announced today.

Trawick Hamilton Stubbs and Juleigh Lee Sitton have been charged with obstruction of justice and filing false reports, while Peter Anthony Reichard faces a single count of filing a false report. The indictments allege that the three knowingly caused the Perdue campaign committee to file false finance reports that did not list all the contributions, loans, and expenditures, including free flights.

For background, see Carolina Journal stories by Executive Editor Don Carrington on the questionable manner in which flights were paid for and documented during Perdue’s gubernatorial campaign.
