The Northampton County Board of Commissioners has approved a $1.3 million road to the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (NCCAR), previously known as the Advanced Vehicle Research Center. The NC Department of Transportation reportedly will contribute $1.2 million for the road. Legislators have already given $15.25 million to build and operate the still-not-operating center. We’ve been watching this project as long as we have the nearby Randy Parton Theatre. So far, it has taken a lot of government money going into this industrial theme park, but no real investment.
