It is a logical question to ask after what was one of the worst days I’ve ever seen an NFL quarterback have. Delhomme threw 4 INTs and easily could’ve had a couple more the way he was missing receivers high all day.

The performance was so poor that your have to either hang it all on Jake or question the football IQ of OC Jeff Davidson. The offensive game plan seemed completely unprepared for the 8 and 9 man fronts the Raiders predictably showed all day.

I also thought it was very odd that Panthers went with WR D.J. Hackett instead of Dwayne Jarrett, who looked like he had broken lose of his growing pains and was ready to give Jake another big target out there. No dice.

The good news is that Pep played like a wild man all day — and that the hapless Lions come to town next week. But longer term, the Panthers looked several notches below the Giants and generally not an elite NFC team in their outing in Oakland.
