Since I live in mostly liberal Orange County, this commentary in The Nation rings true for me. The latest freedom-limiting proposal from the Chapel Hill Town Council is to regulate gas powered leaf blowers because some people think they’re too noisy and stir up dirt. It would be humorous, except that it’s another example of an all too prevalent attitude: If there’s a problem — no matter how large, how small, or what the issue is — government intervention is the answer. That’s scary.
