Hillary and Edwards have been ranting about how the nation needs to have mandatory health insurance, but in this WSJ piece today, Betsy McCaughey argues that it isn’t. She refutes several politically convenient myths and shows that mandating health insurance is a wealth transfer from the young to the old.

The only point she leaves out is what I think is the clinching argument — nowhere does the Constitution give Congress the power to mandate that people buy insurance (or anything else).
