“I have concerns about this,” County Manager Steve Wyatt told the board during last week’s meeting. “My suggestion is to pick a number, and say (to design firm Moseley Architects), ‘Fellas, come back to us with a plan within that number.'”
Oh, come on, Steve! Build it and they will come. Raise taxes! Slip in a new fee here and there! Zero out the fund balance! Go into debt – er – increase your leveraging capacity! Forge partnerships! Government has been overextending for well over a decade, and we’ve been in an economic recovery ever since. Look at all the jobs! The construction! The homeowners!
