Advocates for Durham’s 1 percent tax hike on prepared foods, which will be on the November ballot, already are complaining that the ballot item “is confusing,” according to Durham Councilman Howard Clement.

I respectfully disagree: A tax is a tax is a tax. There’s nothing confusing about a government-imposed increase on the price of a product.
