No way to spin a decline both in the number of homes sold and a 4 percent drop in the average price. The national housing funk has finally hit Charlotte. Probably will not improve for a year or so.
And what is happening with Charlotte City Council and the Mecklenburg County Commission? Belt tightening of any kind? A sober look at the end of drunken sailor times? Nope.
The city cannot wait to throw $300m. away on frickin’ streetcars and the county a similar amount on a new Spirit Square/Uptown library. All via new TIF debt, so it is not “real” money dear taxpayers.
What a joke. Be sure to laugh when you get your new, higher tax bill next year.
