Today, Charles Murray has a great column on intelligence (aka “g”) and the limits of public policy.

There is no reason to believe that raising intelligence significantly and permanently is a current policy option, no matter how much money we are willing to spend…This is not to say that American public schools cannot be improved. Many of them, especially in large cities, are dreadful. But even the best schools under the best conditions cannot repeal the limits on achievement set by limits on intelligence.

Follow-up columns will be published in the WSJ over the next two days.
