After filing my state income tax return in early March — I filed electronically to speed things up; silly me — there’s still no sighting of the $219 the state owes me. The Department of Revenue’s website continues to tell me that my return has been received and, when asked, DOR representatives continue to say that we’ll all eventually get our refunds.

Meantime, I have met the state’s requirement to file my 1st quarter 2010 estimated taxes by April 15. That means I paid money into state coffers for this year, while the state still owes me money for over-paying last year.

I don’t blame the state; I blame me. I should have checked “yes” in the box that would have subtracted my 2009 refund from my 2010 estimated taxes owed. I won’t make that mistake again.
