Very amusing that the national media seem somewhat shocked that the Big Cat is taking such a hard line in NFL labor talks. But it would be downright alarming to find out that any of Richardson’s fellow owners are surprised.
The guy has telegraphed his intent for months: Break the union and save the small market teams which cannot afford $1b. stadia. If it costs the season, it costs the season. But deep down all the owners think that the second players miss a game check, they’ll cave. What they do not like right now is the fact that they have to start winding down operations and idling stadium workers and the like. Bad PR. And sports team owners are in their games to be loved.
