As journalists muse over the possible results of the indictment of N.C. Department of Transportation Ferry Division Director Jerry Gaskill, Carolina Journal‘s Don Carrington, the bloodhound responsible for shining the spotlight
on the Ferry Division, continues to share his information with news
media, including the Lockwood Phillips show and Asheville’s Matt Mittan
show.  What will be the result of this state-level
corruption?  Time will tell.  Nationally, the Abramoff
scandal has put a pox on
politics, especially the Republican Party.  Senior Fellow Marc Rotterman’s article, “GOP Crossroads,” will appear in the January 29 edition of the Charlotte Observer. Rotterman writes that the party should move to reconsolidate under the conservative
banner that brought them to power in 1994: smaller federal government,
returning power to the states, lower taxes, greater individual
freedom. Marc will also make a guest appearance BBC World Service Newshour on January 30 from 7:00 am to 8:00 am local time. You can catch this program in the Triangle on 91.5 FM, on 90.9 FM in Rocky Mount, and on 88.9 FM on the Outer Banks.
