The John Locke Foundation has published a new policy report, the “First Annual NC County Privatization Survey.” 44 of 100 counties responded to the JLF’s request for information on which services they had privatized and which services had been privatized in the past with poor results. Privatized services include waste handling, maintenance, lawn care, EMS, mental healthcare, jail medical care, sheriff’s departments and more. Madison County was among few that deprivatized a number of services. The report is intended to network ideas among counties.
