The research division has been busy this week.

Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies, wrote this week about the Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) charter school report, which evaluates and compares charter school performance in different states.  He also blogged about long-term trends in student performance, teacher pay, and school choice.

Sarah Curry, Director of Fiscal Policy Studies, wrote about the Senate’s continuing resolution, the next step in the General Assembly’s budget process, in both her weekly newsletter and in two blog posts.  She also wrote about trends in the Americans’ savings rates and a filibuster in Texas.

Jon Sanders, Director of Regulatory Policy Studies, wrote about the craft beer industry in North Carolina, and what state and local governments should and should not be doing to help it thrive.  He also blogged about the IRS, the politicization of everything, disappointing GDP growth, and progressivism.  Finally, there’s a sad and ironic story involving a rare bird in the UK.

Katherine Restrepo, Health and Human Services Policy Analyst, wrote about IRS overreach when in comes to Obamacare.  She also began her countdown of the last 100 days before Obamacare implementation, and wrote about the some of the first teaser rates from the California health insurance exchange.

There’s plenty more on the Locker Room.

If you aren’t currently receiving the research division’s newsletters, you can sign up for them here.  They, along with the blog, are a great way to stay informed about what’s happening in North Carolina public policy.
