Other issues that continue to churn around the cost of running government schools are construction costs and school district size. Stoops took issue with the need for more bonds for school construction on News 14 online, and hit the airwaves with Bill LuMaye to discuss the prospect of a Wake County school bond. Kakadelis’s NCEA Weekly Journals on school district size were featured in a report by WBT’s Al Gardner and Stacey
Simms. Both Stoops and Kakadelis made the point that more
money won’t solve the problem of failing schools. George Leef, on a National Association of Scholars (NAS) online forum,
echoed the same sentiments, claiming that government-run schools don’t
hold students accountable for sub-par work, but merely write it off as
a problem with a not-fully funded system.
