As the debate about federal health care policy continues to generate heat across the nation, John Locke Foundation experts started this week a statewide tour to promote consumer-driven alternatives to government-run health care proposals. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray and Fiscal and Health Care Policy Analyst Joseph Coletti are among the featured speakers for the six-city tour. They headed to Asheville and Charlotte this week, with future stops planned in the Triad and Triangle, as well as on the coast. Gray and Coletti discussed the Asheville luncheon — along with last-minute legislative issues and the state budget — during an appearance Tuesday on Matt Mittan’s “Take A Stand Show” on WWNC Radio. The Asheville Citizen-Times also previewed that first event, and WLOS Television interviewed Coletti about the western North Carolina luncheon. WBTV also interviewed Coletti about the Charlotte event. (Wearing his fiscal policy hat, Coletti also granted an interview this week about the new state budget to Curtis Wright and WLTT Radio’s “Morning Beat” program.) Meanwhile, other JLF experts are contributing to the health care debate as well. Policy Analyst and Research Editor Jon Sanders followed up his three-day tour of more than a dozen N.C. cities on the Americans for Prosperity North Carolina “Hands Off My Health Care” bus tour with a column in TownHall.com. That column led to an interview with Chicago’s WGN Radio, scheduled to air Saturday evening. The Beaufort Observer also reported on Sanders’ participation in the bus tour. Another veteran of the AFP tour, Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera, discussed health care on television with News 14 Carolina and in person with about 50 members of the Sunshine Seniors group.
