Looking back to colonial days, North Carolina government has used five basic “operating systems,” and now it’s time for a new North Carolina 6.0.

John Hood makes that argument in JLF’s new book, First In Freedom: Transforming Ideas Into Consequences for North Carolina. The new operating system would include shrinking the number of elected statewide executive officials from 10 to four, strengthening the governor’s veto, enacting formal session limits for legislators, and returning party labels to judicial elections.
