Former Herald-Sun cartoonist John Cole, now the cartoonist at the Scranton (PA) Times-Tribune, weighed in on the Duke case today. He sees a very different rape:

In the commentary accompanying his cartoon, Cole had this to say:

The aspects of the case — a black female accuser’s ever-changing story about three privileged white male athletes (read: members of the hated “white patriarchy”), a politically ambitious D.A. who bent the rules and probably broke the law, a race/class/gender-obsessed political constituency and university faculty, and an irresponsible media (hello, Nancy Grace!) — have been the stuff of national news for months now. Knowing the town like I did (or do), I can’t say I’m surprised by the circus. It’s brought every wart on the Bull City into high relief.
