More than 600 people helped the John Locke Foundation mark its 20th anniversary Wednesday night at a dinner celebration in Cary. Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich delivered the featured remarks and helped attract media coverage to the event. An Associated Press story previewing Gingrich’s speech noted JLF’s goal of seeking “a better balance between the public sector and private institutions in North Carolina.” Television stations WRAL, WTVD, WNCN, News 14 Carolina, and the News & Observer were among the media outlets that carried the AP preview story. The N&O also covered Gingrich’s appearance in the “Under The Dome” online blog and the print newspaper. WRAL (both on television and on its blog), WTVD, and News 14 Carolina also covered the event, with other media outlets relying on an Associated Press report of Gingrich’s speech. While in town, Gingrich also appeared on Bill LuMaye’s afternoon program on WPTF Radio.
