I just now got a look at N&R editor John Robinson’s congratulatory post to his paper’s Landmark Award winners. Guess who won a first-place award for news reporting: None other than columnist/reporter/community activist Lorraine Ahearn.

Commenter Beachwalker responds:

First place: Lorraine Ahearn? You have got to be kidding me. First place for a reporter who obviously got it TOTALLY WRONG on the David Wray story. First Place? She shouldn’t even have a job in this town, much less being handed an award on a silver platter. It is obvious the N&R is still telling the readership to kiss its A–. And you wonder why you continue to lose readers. You people are a joke.

Robinson replies that Ahearn “didn’t get it wrong” and advises Beachwalker to “(l)et it go. Chief Wray quit three years ago.”

John, buddy, pal, have you been reading your own newspaper? The Department of Justice is investigating the City of Greensboro on matters directly related to David Wray’s resignation, which he submitted after he was locked out of his office by former City Manager Mitchell Johnson. Did you not read last week’s story reporting that DOJ investigators wanted to talk with Risk Management Associates investigators, who authored the biased report on which prize-winning journalist Ahearn placed so much faith?

Many times I wish to hell I could let this issue go, but it just doesn’t seem possible right now. Give me a break.
