Hotline on Call reports that White House economic adviser Christina Romer is calling it quits.

“She has been frustrated,” a source with insight into the WH economics team said. “She doesn’t feel that she has a direct line to the president. She would be giving different advice than Larry Summers [director of the National Economic Council], who does have a direct line to the president.”

Join the club, Ms. Romer. For two years, millions of Americans have been frustrated and alarmed by the massive and detrimental economic policies endorsed by the White House. The spending, borrowing, and thwarting of market forces began under George W. Bush and has exploded under Barack Obama to an unprecedented, ominous level.

I await Ms. Romer’s admission that this administration’s economic policies are a complete disaster. Perhaps she should talk to an average American.
