Guilford County Superior Court Judge Patrice Hinnant did not make a decision Wednesday, but —according to the N&R —– said she is “leaning toward” issuing a restraining order to keep the City of Greensboro from reopening White Street landfill signing a contract with a waste disposal company.

Hinnant said she wanted to review more documents and might issue a decision later today. Time is an issue, as court will not be in session later this month.

Here’s the city’s argument, as stated in today’s print edition:

Jim Clark, an assistant city attorney, argued that the city is signing a contract, not picking a site. Deciding where to dispose of household waste will be up to whoever wins the contract, he said. they’ll be required to hold hearings, conduct any studies and consider alternate sites as part of the contract, he said.

Opponents are “putting the cart before the horse,” Clark said. “This is a process we are only at the beginning of.”

Of course everyone in Greensboro knows that White Street is the site. Otherwise, this conversation would never take place.
