Five days after LieStoppers noted it, the N&O confirmed that Brian Meehan no longer works for DNA Security. Meehan provided the “independent testing” of the DNA in the Duke lacrosse hoax. His incomplete report–which failed to meet industry and company standards–marked the beginning of the end of the case.
Still, Meehan will always have a soft spot in my heart. His stammering, long-winded, and nearly incomprehensible answers to simple questions during the Nifong ethics hearing really made him a star. Even Nifong’s crocodile tears couldn’t upstage that kind of performance.
Good thing all chance of an encore has been eliminated.
