Sometimes common sense statements are worth pointing out, in a world where the funding of programs is sometimes done without much thought. Here are wise words from Person County Commissioner Larry Yarborough:
“When I approve the spending of the peoples’ money, I would like to understand the why for pretty much each dollar I’m spending,” Yarborough said. “And in this case, I don’t understand the why of each dollar.”
Still, Commissioner Yarborough voted “yes” on the project, which involves spending $160,000 to renovate a Board of Elections office. Let’s hope the commissioner gets the information he needs to follow through on his good intentions.
