Fellow Forsyth County commissioners speak out on the controversy between Commissioner Ted Kaplan and the Tourism Development Authority.

Commissioners don’t fault Kaplan for questioning TDA’s expenses. But what Walter Marshall does question is the way he went about it:

Marshall said he believes that Kaplan took the TDA fight to a personal and vindictive level that was out of character for Kaplan, despite Kaplan’s denials of any personal motives. Marshall said he thinks that the controversy shows that commissioners need a code of conduct that will outline what they should and should not do.

He said he is not accusing Kaplan of acting unethically, but that “the wrong thing was when it became a perception that it was personal between him and McCoy.”

But what exactly doesn’t need to happen is that the whole thing will just drop, as Commissioner Beaufort Bailey hopes. If there are problems with TDA, getting Bob McCoy out of there more than likely isn’t the only solution.
