Interesting. Bill Kristol just said on Fox News that so far every candidate who had his back to the wall and needed to win a primary has been successful. Huckabee needed to win Iowa to be seen as a first-tier candidate, McCain had to win New Hampshire to remain a serious candidate, and Romney needed to win Michigan tonight to stay viable, and they all did. He predicted (perhaps a little bit tongue-in-cheek) that Fred Thompson will win South Carolina on Saturday because he has to, and that Rudy Giuliani would win in Florida because he has to. He said the field has not been trimmed because the voters don’t want it trimmed. It’s going to be fun to watch.
