I rarely find much to agree with on the editorial page of the LA Times, but this editorial is right on target. Britain’s detention of David Miranda was just harassment.
As the state grows and grows, its means for harassing, intimidating, and punishing people who displease the rulers grows, while at the same time, its relentless information gathering makes it easier to identify those who need to be “dealt with.” The omnipotent state is filled with bad trends, and this is one of the worst.
