In 2006, the John Locke Foundation questioned the Wake County School District plan to sink nearly $23 million into the renovation of Lacy Elementary School. The renovated school would add only 8,500 square feet and 115 seats to the existing capacity of the school. Obviously, renovations like this (and there were several in the 2006 bond package) do little to provide seats for the growing Wake County school system.
Now, Wake County commissioners are raising the same concerns. The commissioners and school board will discuss the Lacy Elementary School renovations at a joint meeting tomorrow.
