• Gov. Bev Perdue and Craven County Democrats pick two people to complete the unfinished term of state Rep. William Wainwright. Perdue’s choice, Barbara Lee, will get the nod.
• Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton favors keeping taxpayer incentives for film production in place. His Republican opponent for governor, Pat McCrory, hasn’t offered his opinion.
• GOP vice presidential pick Paul Ryan’s traveling press secretary is Michael Steel, a Durham native and UNC-Chapel Hill alum.
