• PBS “NewsHour” anchor Gwen Ifill notes that the host governors of both major party conventions, Rick Scott in Florida and Bev Perdue in North Carolina, are unpopular and that the parties probably want to see as little of them as possible during the conventions.

 

• A spokesman for Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-10th District, says three debates are planned with Democratic challenger Patsy Keever. A Keever press release suggests that’s news to her.

 

• David Rouzer, the Republican nominee for the 7th U.S. Congressional District race, lost a speaking slot Monday at the Republican National Convention when organizers nixed the day’s activities. Rouzer cancelled his trip to Tampa Sunday.

 

• Internal polls from incumbent Rep. Larry Kissell, D-8th District, and GOP challenger Scott Hudson show a close race, but Under the Dome notes that neither camp has disclosed its polling methodology.
