Latest dispatches from the campaign trail, July 27, 2012

• U.S. Reps. Mike McIntyre, D-7th, and Larry Kissell, D-8th, along with the state’s redistricting plan, get mentions in a New York Times story about Democratic congressional incumbents facing tough re-election campaigns.

• Meantime, Kissell is taking credit for delivering federal funding from the federal Affordable Care Act to a clinic in his district. Kissell voted to repeal the law two weeks after the money came in.

• A new poll by a Democratic group shows Pat McCrory with a 6-point lead over Walter Dalton, which is just inside the poll’s margin of error.

• State Senate District 27 Republican candidate Trudy Wade has asked the State Board of Elections to look into what Wade calls “disreputable” phone calls placed to voters in her district slamming opponent Myra Stone.

• Republican vice presidential hopeful and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be in Raleigh Saturday to celebrate the opening of a new office for the GOP campaign.

• President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” comment has inspired yet another campaign ad from a Republican group.
