• Our hopes for a full recovery. Republican Gene McIntyre, running for the open Senate District 25 seat against Democrat Gene McLaurin, was in an auto accident driving to a campaign event Wednesday night and hospitalized.

• Wait and see. During last night’s gubernatorial debate, Republican Pat McCrory praised Democratic state Auditor Beth Wood for taking on the Perdue administration. He also said he would reserve judgment about the recent controversies surrounding GOP auditor nominee Debra Goldman.

• Winning the room. An audience survey of Tuesday’s debate at Western Carolina University between 11th Congressional District candidates Mark Meadows (R) and Hayden Rogers (D) concluded that Meadows won.

• New normal. Restore Our Future, a super PAC supporting Mitt Romney, is running this ad in North Carolina.
