The Charlotte Business Journal reports that the usual suspects are ramping up a campaign for a Mecklenburg County zoo — or aquarium — or botanical garden — or some damn thing. Price tag — anywhere from $150 to $300 million.
Why? Because we need “attractions.” Why? Because we do, mostly because the folks living here cannot afford to pay for all the crap we’ve already built.
It just never ends. We narrowly missed the great 90s aquarium building boom that swept the country. We got a convention center instead.
