A couple of new statewide polls are out on North Carolina?s major political races. Here?s a recap of the results:

? Presidential Race: Bush leads Kerry by three points (48 percent to 45 percent) in the Research 2000 poll taken for The News & Observer of Raleigh, WRAL-TV, and WUNC radio; and by six points (51 percent to 45 percent) in the Survey USA poll taken for WTVD-TV in Durham and WBT-TV in Charlotte.

? U.S. Senate Race: Bowles leads Burr by eight points in the Survey USA poll (50 percent to 42 percent) and nine points in the Research 2000 survey (47 percent to 38 percent).

? Governor?s Race: Easley leads Ballantine by seven points in the Survey USA poll (51 percent to 44 percent) and 16 points in the Research 2000 survey (51 percent to 35 percent).
