As reported in the Washington Times yesterday:

The FDA won its two-year fight to shut down an Amish farmer who was selling fresh raw milk to eager consumers in the Washington, D.C., region after a judge this month banned Daniel Allgyer from selling his milk across state lines and he told his customers he would shut down his farm altogether.

I’m not sure whether there’s anything that rubs me the wrong way more than the prosecution of innocent people who happen to be meeting customer demand, in particular the demand for raw milk. Of course, it is taxpayer (other people’s) money being wasted, all while real criminals roam free.

I grew up on raw milk, and my father continues to milk a cow by hand back on the family farm in New Zealand. How this can be a crime, I do not understand.

Shame on those who would intervene in the peaceful decision of people who seek what they believe to be a superior product. And this is not an isolated incident; it happens all the time across the United States.

Just check the video below. The lady speaking has it correct:

“We should have the right to eat what we want to eat and have in our homes what we want to have in our homes… Just because there’s a law on the books doesn’t make it right… We’ve had all kinds of laws in the country that were wrong. Just because it’s written down and signed off by the Georgia General Assembly doesn’t make it right.”
