Asheville City Attorney Bob Oast has shared that two bills intended to make Asheville forfeit substantial holdings have survived the crossover deadline. HB925, originally requiring the city to turn its water system over to the Metropolitan Sewerage District without any compensation, has been transformed into a study bill. HB552, which would cause the city to surrender its real estate holdings at the airport for no compensation, has undergone no such dilution. Another bill that would de-annex Biltmore Lake has also survived the crossover deadline. Biltmore Farms, of course, has an outstanding reputation for lobbying.
